White Water Rafting In Costa Rica

White water rafting is a must for anyone that is looking for a bit of an  adrenaline rush while visiting Costa Rica. Even if you have never been rafting before there are many tour companies that offer rafting tours for beginners. The raft tour usually stops half way through the river and you can get out and check out some waterfalls, stretch your legs and eat some snacks that they provide. You will see all kinds of birds, butterflies and plants along the ride that your guide will point out and tell you a little bit about.

Elephant Beetle

The Elephant beetle is one of many beetles that belong the the scarab family. They live mostly in Central and South America, so keep a look out for them while you travel around Costa Rica. This particular Elephant beetle was spotted on one of the plants in our lobby. Once the guests spotted him everyone had to get a picture of this guy to show their friends back home. It is a completely harmless and slow beetle that just likes to hangout while eating its favorite food pineapple.

Scarlet Macaw

The Scarlet Macaw is one of the most majestic creatures you can hope to run into during your travels around Costa Rica. Due to people poaching the Macaw for its exotic feathers the population has decreased, but can still be found in the Peninsula De Osa, the Carara National Park and other more jungled areas of Costa Rica.  Now that the Scarlet Macaw is a protected bird there are many groups working on increasing their population back to its former glory. In the future you will be able to see these birds flying all over Costa Rica.
